It takes less than five months for the most important conference of ICT directors in Latin America. TICAL2018, which will be held for the second consecutive year in conjunction with the Latin American e-Science Meeting, will take place from September 3 to 5, 2018, at the Las Americas Convention Center in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia. And as the date of the event approaches, some of its important deadlines also come to an end, such as the submission of papers, which ends in less than a month, and the registration for the Virtual Information Day on the two meetings, which ends this Tuesday, April 10.

The calls for papers of TICAL2018 and the e-Science Meeting will be open until May 7. It is important to remember that the calls of the two events are individual and different from each other. This is due to the different audiences to which they are driven, to the thematic lines they propose and, above all, to the approach they give to the subject of digital transformation - TICAL treats it from the view of Higher Education, and the e-Science Meeting does it from the view of Science and Arts. Considering these particularities, please remember that the papers must be sent by email until 23:59 hours of the Wednesday May 7, 2018, in strict accordance to the format established in the Guide of Authors of both events.

While awaiting papers, TICAL announced two of the international speakers expected to share their experiences with the Latin American ICT community. They are the argentinian William Confalonieri, Digital Director of Deakin University, and the American Martin Hilbert, professor at the University of California, Davis. Awarded the CIO Award 2018 by IT News, Confalonieri will bring to TICAL2018 his experience with the Deakin Genie project, chosen as the best IT project in Australia. Hilbert, for his part, will share his experience of more than 10 years at the ECLAC of the United Nations Secretariat, where he created and coordinated the Information Society Program.

Early registration with discounts and one day only to clarify doubts

Those who want to listen to Hilbert and Confalonieri can now ensure their participation in TICAL2018 and the 2nd e-Science Meeting. The registration page is already working. The registration guarantees, besides the participation in the plenary and parallel sessions, a place at the Gala Dinner, all the material of the Conference, lunch and coffee. Those who register until August 2 will get access to special discounts.

And if there are still doubts, the TICAL team is preparing one day exclusively to clarify it. It will be the Virtual Day TICAL2018 - 2nd Latin American e-Science Meeting, which will be held next Thursday, April 12, between 15 and 17h GMT. There are two ways to attend the event: from a video conferencing room or through the Internet. The deadline for registration ends this Tuesday, April 10.
